Choosing Green Pest Control Products

After my niece had a serious reaction to pest control, I realized that we were up against a few big problems. For starters, I knew that we needed to identify the types of pests that we were struggling with, and then we needed to find green products that would be safe for her to be around. It was a little bit of a challenge at first, but within a few weeks we found a company that offered the perfect line of products. I wanted to start a blog completely committed to pest control, so I started this site. Read more about keeping your family safe here.

Residential Pest Control: 3 Most Common Home Pest Infestations You're Likely To Deal With

Blog

Bugs and critters are a crucial part of the ecosystem and play an unappreciated role as some predators' sole food source. However, when you have too many of them in places they don't belong, such as your home, they become an annoyance.  Some pests also carry parasites and diseases and can cause massive damages to your home if left unchecked. For example, termites can destroy all wooden structures in your home, leading to foundation or ceiling damage. You should pay close attention to the signs of possible pest damage in your home and call exterminators as soon as you discover a possible infestation. Here are the most common infestations you might have to handle.

Cockroaches In the Kitchen

These are about half an inch in length and brown in color. They love the kitchen and any part of the home that has food. They are destructive to paper and fabric and can cause several illnesses without proper management, seeing that roaches harbor salmonella, streptococcus, and hepatitis pathogens. Most homeowners will use bug spray to try and minimize the number of cockroaches in their homes if they notice one or two roaming around. However, sprays only kill the visible roaches and leave the rest to reproduce. A better solution is locating and removing all food sources for the bugs and call for professional help for residential pest control.

Mice in the Pantry

Mice are also quite common in the home. Some parts of the country have mice, while others have rats. Both are small rodents that can squeeze through the smallest spaces. They chew everything in their way, including furniture, books, clothes, groceries, appliances, and more. If you notice droppings slightly larger than coffee grounds, you are likely dealing with a rodent infestation. You want to make sure you seal all the gaps in your home to limit their access. If they are already living insider your house, buying a cat can help scare them away, but you will need a pest expert for a permanent solution.

Termites in the Basement

Few pests will cause the damage that termites do. Termites get inside the home through the basement and eat away the foundation and floorboards. If left unchecked, they are likely to eat at your wooden house from the inside and leave you with a hollow structure. As they munch at your wood, you will notice odd sounds, calling for immediate attention to limit the damage.

Cleanliness is the first step in keeping pests out of your home. If you already have an infestation you cannot control, call in an exterminator. They will offer you a solution that will eliminate the issue permanently.
