After my niece had a serious reaction to pest control, I realized that we were up against a few big problems. For starters, I knew that we needed to identify the types of pests that we were struggling with, and then we needed to find green products that would be safe for her to be around. It was a little bit of a challenge at first, but within a few weeks we found a company that offered the perfect line of products. I wanted to start a blog completely committed to pest control, so I started this site. Read more about keeping your family safe here.
It can be very exciting to start looking for your very first apartment in New York City. There are lots of places to look for an apartment, and the process can be really exhilarating. However, it can also be very confusing and difficult. You will have to deal with an abundance of real estate issues that can be hard to navigate, as well as unscrupulous landlords or trick ads, not to mention problems having to do with moving as well as what to do with your new space once you're ready to move in. With that in mind, here are a few things to
Make Sure You Use A Reputable Agent
One of the biggest things you need to be wary of is the abundance of fake ads online for apartments. You might end up falling for a fake apartment that is not even up for rent. There are lots of places that advertise apartments to bait and switch or just try and get you to pay a fee to see an apartment. This is different than "no fee" apartments. The fee can be a legitimate cost that is associated with the agent securing you an apartment. The best thing you can do is look for a reputable agent. This includes someone who is connected with a real estate agency in NYC that has a long history. You want to be wary of anyone operating independently without an agent.
Check The Apartment Building For Violations
Once you see an apartment that you like, make sure to check the city's website and look up any violations. You might be fooled and see a beautiful apartment but it might not be exactly what you are looking for with regards to complaints. Any problem such as noise, items that are not fixed, or other problems needs to be on your radar before you sign the lease.
Safeguard Against Bedbugs
Finally, make sure that you safeguard against that most bothersome of New York City pests, the bed bug. This means that you will want to make sure that the moving company is one that does not have complaints about bed bugs. Check their reviews out online. Also, make sure that you get protective wraps for your bed. This will make it so that you don't have to worry about the bed bugs jumping onto the bedding. These wraps should be applied in your current place and only unwrap the bed once you are in your new apartment. For extra protection, have a bed bug treatment performed.Share
