Once you see an apartment that you like, make sure to check the city's website and look up any violations. You might be fooled and see a beautiful apartment but it might not be exactly what you are looking for with regards to complaints. Any problem such as noise, items that are not fixed, or other problems needs to be on your radar before you sign the lease.
Safeguard Against Bedbugs
Finally, make sure that you safeguard against that most bothersome of New York City pests, the bed bug. This means that you will want to make sure that the moving company is one that does not have complaints about bed bugs. Check their reviews out online. Also, make sure that you get protective wraps for your bed. This will make it so that you don't have to worry about the bed bugs jumping onto the bedding. These wraps should be applied in your current place and only unwrap the bed once you are in your new apartment. For extra protection, have a bed bug treatment performed.
